A Traditional Sheep Farm: Meeting Connemara’s Woolly Residents

You may have heard the saying that there are more sheep than people in Ireland. While that might not be always true today, no trip to Connemara would be complete without meeting one of Ireland’s beloved symbols: the sheep. At a traditional sheep farm, visitors can experience authentic rural Irish life while learning about traditional sheep farming. Depending on the season, you might even see sheepdog demonstrations, feed lambs or simply enjoy spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. Connemara National Park: A Walk Through Nature’s Wonderland

Whether you admire it from the roadside viewpoints or take a scenic boat cruise, Killary Fjord offers some of the most unforgettable scenery on the Wild Atlantic Way. Keep an eye out for dolphins, seabirds and the famous mussel farms that thrive in the fjord’s clean Atlantic waters.
