  • 14 January 2015
  • Com 0

id2015This year Dublin is hosting a great event called “Irish Design 2015”, which takes place on St. Andrews, Suffolk St, D2 from January until December 2015. It is a government initiative to explore, promote and celebrate Irish design throughout Ireland and internationally.

This event offers a unique opportunity for Irish designers to highlight the significant role and impact that design has in every facet of life, with events and exhibitions  spread across the capital (and beyond) throughout 2015.

“Irish Design 2015 is the start of a job creation journey exploring, promoting and celebrating Irish design and designers through events and activities on the island of Ireland and internationally.” – This is what the official website says.

15804306400_bee608668cThe Head of Design at NCAD – Alex Milton, is curating the programme of these events for the year ahead along with the team from the recently rebranded Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.

ID2015 seeks to actively engage communities to explore how design can help
people live in a more sustainable way, and foster new employment opportunities by embedding design into business and daily life.

“ID2015 aims to foster dialogue and collaboration. By encouraging investment in design as a key component of competitiveness and innovation, the overall objective of the initiative is to sustain and grow employment opportunities and sales and export potential for the Irish design sector into the future.”
