Meet our students…let’s talk with Aurora
Hi Aurora, can you tell us something about yourself?
Yes, I’m 18 years old and I come from Rimini, a town in Italy. I love dancing and I practiced it for 9 years. Currently I’m attending the high school in Italy, I study business and economic subjects. Next year is going to be my last year at high school, then I want to go to university and study law. I love travelling, discovering other cultures and other ways of life.
So you chose Ireland for these reasons?
Yes, but my main purpose was to study abroad for a while to improve my English. I was attracted by the Irish landscapes but I have to be honest…I didn’t know that much about Ireland before. So I decided to come here because last year I went to England and I wanted to continue improving my English but also discovering another country. And I’m really happy about my choice!
How long have you been studying English in Italy?
I’ve been studying English for 12 years at school. Also at the primary school, but it was really basic.
Why did you choose Travelling Languages?
My travel agent suggested me Travelling Languages because it offers you a good programme of lessons to improve English and it gives you the opportunity to travel around Ireland.
Currently you’re staying in Dublin, but last weekend you’ve been to the western side of the island…
Yes, the school organized a trip to Galway and to the Cliffs of Moher and I joined it. Galway is smaller than Dublin and it’s cozy, people are very nice and it seems to me a relaxing city, full of music, shops and history. Then I visited the Cliffs of Moher and the sun was shining so…wonderful!
What are the main differences that you noticed between your country and Ireland?
In Ireland everything seems more organized than in Italy, buses are on time and, even if Dublin is a big city, its streets aren’t noisy. People are very friendly and everyone wants to talk with you like in Italy. Irish are warmer than English people and, probably I was very lucky but, during this two weeks, the weather was fantastic.
What do you like about Dublin and what you dislike?
I like the city because of the people who seem happy and relaxed. Dislike…well I’m Italian and I have to say that I prefer Italian food to the Irish one.
What’s your goal for the future?
My goal is to become a lawyer.
